LOVE WORTHY STYLE!!!!

Even better than the fact that Valentine's Day is right around the corner, is the prospect of Spring and the infinite array of colors that come along with it... My most recent inspiration for this Season's kaleidoscope of color and fun???
The release of the upcoming movie Gnomeo and Juliet, with James Mcavoy and Emily Blunt as the lead voices to this animated tale... Its still Shakespeare, right?
After watching the trailer for the movie several times & keeping myself informed with the latest trends for Spring 2011, I've identified a few styles filled with color and poise that are sure to make your Romeo say: "Sin from thy lips? O trespass sweetly urged!
Give me my sin again."
The following images are from Lanvin Spring 2011 ready to wear and Prada Spring 2011, ready to wear. Enjoy!!!

Trends 2011: Half Moon Manicure

My first encounter with the half-moon manicure was upon seeing Marion Cotillard for Christian Dior... I stared at the picture for a few minutes, not only did Ms. Cotillard look beautiful, but even more enticing than Cotillard's beauty, or the precious Dior handbag in the picture, were her perfect half moon, white and black nails.

I teared out the page and kept it for my next visit to the Salon. Luckily for me, my Manicurist & friend Migdalia Santana was up for a challenge... She explained to me that I was actually the first client in seven years to ask her for a reverse french, half moon manicure!

"But I have a feeling you won't be the last!", said Migdalia.
Well, only a month and a half later Harper's Bazaar decides to publish their "Trends 2011" and guess what???? Yes! Moon Mani's are back!!!! Told ya!

Here are a few photos, which reflect my current love for half moon manicures... Enjoy!
By the way, if you feel inspired like me with this nail art, you can contact my Fabulous Manicurist Migdalia Santana @ Outrageous Salon (787) 294-5108.

KOOKIE STYLE: OBJECTS OF OBSESSION

I've recently seen several online stores presenting their look books for Spring 2011 and raving about the return of 70s style. Revival is ON, but it won't be all about the 70s... the 1960s also seem to be a lingering influence in recent collections, like John Galliano's for Christian Dior.
Christian Dior's Ready-to-wear 2011 collection of Retro inspired dresses, Hawaiian prints & strappy sandals are reminiscent of Elvis' Blue Hawaii, an iconic movie in the 1960s. This combination of sultry colors, pin-up hair and breezy style is perfect for Puerto Rico's eternal sunshine weather.

If the whole sailor girl charm thing is not for you, then check out Solange Azagury's Stoned and Ball Crusher accessories. These babies seem to be made for the urban femmes of 2011, they mean business and they're beautiful for it.

What else am I obsessing over lately? Pearls, new or old pearls never go out of style. Chanel recently revealed its new Pearl Palette for Spring 2011... ball crushing amazing! Mix all of the above together and what you get is PURE ISLAND CHIC.

BOOTS FOR ANY BUDGET

Now that the Holiday craziness is almost over... I've decided its time for a little present, one I REALLY want and by that I mean shoes, of course!
For the past two months I've been obsessing over a pair of military boots at Nine West. After waiting for them to go down in price & to my great dismay, when I finally decided to purchase them... they had sold out!
I never thought other girls would actually want these boots due to their masculine and "clownish" round toe style; but apparently I was wrong.
Nine West does not ship purchases to Puerto Rico so I was very turned off by this lack of good customer support.
But all this frustration did not come in vain, I actually found a beautiful pair of 100% leather boots just in time for my special day... And I am SO HAPPY!
I may actually sleep in these when I get them... Or just not take them of for a few days... Kind of nasty I know, but thats how I much I love them.
So, what lessons did I learn about good boot-hunting early in 2011?

1. There is a good boot for every budget and every lifestyle. Flat heel for a lot of walking and comfort, high heels for a night out with the girls.
2. Military boots are definitely in. Whether you pair them with a cute floral dress or with a pair of skinny jeans & a sweater for some extra glamour.
3. Round toe shoes will be in style again very soon.
4. Check the label of whatever item you consider purchasing; a 100% leather boot will last a lifetime, a cheaper version may also be good- just don't let a high price tag fool you into believing the quality is good. Always double-check the materials and even give yourself some time to shop around on the internet & compare prices of similar items in different stores.

Here are some examples of the same style boot, and how prices vary according to the store:

Vintage is about MEMORABLE STYLE and Classic Elegance

Lately I have been seriously disillusioned with the clothes I see at the mall. Nothing is really "new", it all looks the same to me. Another trend in the retail market is decreasing quality, increasing Price tag!
Vintage is the remedy... Do I really want to look at my New Year's pictures thirty years from now and cringe? NOT!
Elegance and style is something that the best dressed women in history have always possessed. Take Jackie O. for example, actresses and singers of our day still love the BIG SUNGLASSES, soft hued lips, striking pearls and feminine style of this memorable woman.

Being stylish is about being polished and beautiful in your own way... Do you want to bring sexy back?
Marilyn Monroe is another example of a beautiful woman who's style remains. Think kitten eyeliner and sultry red lips... and voilà! Being sexy is NOT really about showing skin, especially for the more adult-I'm not a teenager- but I'm hot ladies like ME; being sexy is about showing skin in the right places, with the right shoes and the right hair do'...just ask Victoria Beckham another style inspiration for me.
As a woman I believe I deserve to do it all in style... Have a career, cook fabulous meals for my hubby, have babies and age gracefully. And above all, not cringe when I see my New Years Eve 2010 picture!
